It has been a crazy busy few weeks. In May, I discovered a doctoral programme that seems ideally suited to my needs and desires. Unfortunately, I found it just 3 weeks before the deadline, so getting the extensive application done in time was a major achievement, and one that depended on massive quantities of caffeine and sugar and very little sleep. So far the attempt to avoid losing an entire additional year seems to have paid off: I have an interview on the 21st, and then we’ll see. If all goes well, I start in September.
Last week I attended the 2010 World Conference of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in Toronto. While there, I attended my first meeting as a member of the International Executive Board (IEB). I have been blogging about my experiences there so that IABC France members unable to attend could experience the event vicariously (anyone else is welcome to read the articles too). I still have a few articles to post after adding photos and videos. That content is on the special blog I set up to chronicle my mandate as a member of the IEB: In the IABC Fishbowl.
Tomorrow I am off to another conference: I’ll be a VIP blogger at Orange Business Live, the annual event organized by Orange Business Services to look at how information communications technologies (ICT) can help enterprises meet their business challenges. I am looking forward to learning more about what is possible and meeting some of the great speakers. I am particularly looking forward to the keynote speech by Fons Trompenaars, but the other speakers also promise to be interesting: Bernard Hébert (Cirque du Soleil), Vivek Badrinath (Orange Business Services), Peter Sondergaard (Gartner Research), Matthew Kantecki (HSBC), Guillaume Ramey (SBM Offshore), Jorg Leenaards (Belgium Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs), Jean-Marc Lagoutte (Danone Group), Diego De Coen (JTI) and Helmut Reisinger (Orange Business Services).
DISCLOSURE: Orange Business Services is covering the travel expenses, accommodation and incidentals of the VIP blogging team.
Update: Oops! I used an old version of the Orange Business Live programme, so I have updated the speaker list.
